      EVENT DETAILS
      Pete Seeger Songfest

The songfest will celebrate and remember the great contributions to the American heritage Seeger made. The music for the causes Seeger championed will be featured, and Scott will sing many of Seeger’s well-loved songs including “If I Had a Hammer,” “Turn, Turn, Turn,” and “Where Have All the Flowers Gone.” Scott, who knew Seeger well and collaborated with him on many projects, inserts some history and stories about how his songs came about, along with some music of his own.
Jim Scott's lyrical melodies, well-crafted words, guitar mastery, and humorous surprises moved Pete Seeger to call him, “Some kind of a magician.” Known to many as guitarist with the Paul Winter Consort and co-composer of their celebrated “Missa Gaia/Earth Mass,” Jim is a prolific composer and life-long Unitarian Universalist (UU). He has visited more than 700 UU churches over three decades of travels; his much loved “Gather the Spirit” and other songs are in Unitarian Universalist hymnbooks. Jim was one of the creators of the UU Green Sanctuary program, and he wrote the “Earth and Spirit Songbook,” a collection of over 110 songs of earth and peace by many contemporary composers.
